Welcome to Intro to Piano Camp! This five-day camp will teach the basics of piano, via group lessons, for 4.5-8 year olds with little to no experience. The deadline to register is April 30th.
Camp Hours (Arrival & Pickup Times)
Sign up for one week, one time slot.
June 15th to 19th: 8:00 – 9:00am or 1:00 – 2:00pm.
July 13th to 17th: 8:00 – 9:00am or 1:00 – 2:00pm.
Activities
Throughout the week, campers will explore proper posture and technique, the musical alphabet, key names, and rhythm. We’ll look at how to find which fingers are placed on which keys in a song and how songs are organized on a page. By the end of the camp, each student will have four songs to play, informative worksheets to review if they want to explore piano further, and a colorful reference keyboard they made themselves.
What to Bring
A healthy dose of curiosity, both listening ears, and kindness toward oneself and others as trying new things is both challenging and fun. On day 1, campers will receive a folder with music and worksheets inside. Please bring this folder to and from camp each day.
Fees
This year’s camp fee is $260.
Meet Your Mentor
Marissa has 15+ years of music teaching experience. She was born and raised in Western Springs, IL, and now teaches beginner to intermediate piano lessons at Music Makers of Western Springs. Marissa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and received her Type 10 Teaching Certificate from the Illinois State Board of Education. She believes music is a language of the soul that connects and nourishes us. As an educator, Marissa hopes to be a window of opportunity for others to experience the joy, play, and self-discovery found in music.
